We have been discussing how we are all different and unique as part of our school assemblies and school Charter. We are drawing self portraits to express our own appearance and personality traits and they are looking fantastic!
Today we started our writing lesson having a blether about a few unique characters! We were practising using adjectives, similes, metaphors and alliteration to describe appearance and personality traits.
On Friday we all started to create a beach collage inspired from Silver Sand beach in Aberdour. We started by painting the sea using paint, then positioned little scraps of paper carefully on to our paper to look like sand. Next week we will add our own flip flop design and starfish. Today we enjoyed a fabulous day outdoor learning at Aberdour beach, exploring the landscape safely and having fun in the sand. We had plenty of exercise, made sandcastles in the sand, collected shells, pebbles and paddled in the sea. Tomorrow we will use this experience in our writing lesson to describe the beach.
A busy morning in Woodmuir completing our Sky scraper sundae art work. The children first of all had to draw their tall outline and design each of their sections with a pattern and colour of their choice. This week in Woodmuir literacy hour we have been very busy working together on our new class novel Turtle Moon. Children were predicting what the book is about, reading character descriptions and designing their own book cover!
The children had the opportunity to express their views and voice their opinions on our middle area hub. Working with their peers, communicating and collaborating, they came up with super suggestions of what they would like their hub area to look like and sound like.
