Paper Cutting and Folding lesson Today we were identifying that shapes can change when cut in folds. We also continued to visualise, predict and check folded and cut patterns. We started off creating paper snowflakes to demonstrate this concept. Lots of great discussion stemmed from this work using the language vertical, horizontal and symmetry.

Today p4-7 had a super outdoor learning session from the Beecraigs country rangers service.

Challenge Poverty week This week we joined the Cost of the school day meeting online. This was useful in finding out other ideas we could possibly start up in school and how we can help others with rising costs.

Today we were learning to define line/ reflective symmetry and complete reflections of given 2D and 3D objects, with and without mirrors. In literacy we read chapter 4 together as a think aloud then created the castle using Lego, scratch and junk models.

Today we were lucky to have the experts in from Quaternity. Quaternity is a natural chess evolution which develops intuitive thinking along with strategy and tactics.

We are working in partnership with University of Glasgow to implement MathsBURST in our classroom. Today we were learning to define reflective symmetry, complete reflections of given 2D shapes and reflect 2D shapes over horizontal axes. We had a very exciting visit today from West Lothian Bike Library. They help people get active and connected through cycling. We had booked in a cycle maintenance workshop as we have quite a few school bikes which are in need of repair.

After reading our third chapter of the watchers, we decided to create action shots of this dramatic part of the book. Rather than drawing them or writing them down, we created three main pictures in our head ready perform to our group.
