Today we worked on a problem solving activity called legs in the barn. We had to use our addition and multiplication strategies working with whole numbers and fractions. Lots of groups drew pictures, created a table or used the guess and check strategy.

Today we continued on with our Persuasive writing. We were thinking about the key features of a speech today and we watched an informative speech from Greta Thunberg. Lots of great work was written today thinking about how we start off a powerful speech and what points we want to address.

Today we were working on our note taking skills ready to write our first persuasive letter tomorrow. We used safer internet day as our starting point as this assembly generated lots of super discussion. To raise awareness of Children's mental health week we watched a short assembly from Place To Be. We then read a few short stories to explore the theme if belonging.

Today we explored colour mixing and the Artist Paul Nash. We were thinking independently , problem solving and demonstrating creativity.

Today in our random groups of three, working on vertical non-permanent surfaces, we were solving our rich tasks. Lots of collaboration and pupil discourse. We also evaluated how well we worked together in terms of listening, sharing ideas, turn-taking, working together and being kind.

This week we have been continuing on with our project on British birds. Yesterday we went on a lovely winter nature walk with our tally mark checklist. Today we all worked together to solve our maths problem today. We were focussing on the mathematical language and the word ' sum'. We also talked about Math Talk Moves and using Reasoning in our groups.

On Tuesday we had our regular session with Mr Reid. We were very excited to make our own fires and learn all about fire safety. Everyone was engaged in their learning, risk assessing and was connecting with nature. We had a great afternoon and even roasted a few marshmallows!
