Today we were very lucky to have a finance lesson from Claire at money advice Scotland, covering a brief discussion on the history of money and why we use it. Lots of super activities and discussion around coins and notes along with a focus on other types of common payments.

On Friday we all started to create a beach collage inspired from Silver Sand beach in Aberdour. We started by painting the sea using paint, then positioned little scraps of paper carefully on to our paper to look like sand. Next week we will add our own flip flop design and starfish. Today we worked together on a number problem called Dan the detective. We had several clues to help us find the number and all groups managed to find the answer very quickly. Through working in random groups and writing on vertical surfaces all children were engaged and working collaboratively.

Today we enjoyed a fabulous day outdoor learning at Aberdour beach, exploring the landscape safely and having fun in the sand. We had plenty of exercise, made sandcastles in the sand, collected shells, pebbles and paddled in the sea. Tomorrow we will use this experience in our writing lesson to describe the beach.

Today as part of our maths lesson we started off with a Number Talk and the game, Biggest Roller: Taking turns to roll the dice and writing out the numbers in our boxes to find the biggest number. Lots of communication and collaboration skills.

Today in P4-P7 we started to read a range of descriptive texts, focusing on characters in our group novel and how they are portrayed. We started by looking at descriptive language and grammar using our Think Aloud approaches and then had the opportunity to describe another character of our choice.

A busy morning in Woodmuir completing our Sky scraper sundae art work. The children first of all had to draw their tall outline and design each of their sections with a pattern and colour of their choice. This week in Woodmuir literacy hour we have been very busy working together on our new class novel Turtle Moon. Children were predicting what the book is about, reading character descriptions and designing their own book cover!

The children had the opportunity to express their views and voice their opinions on our middle area hub.
