To raise awareness of Children's mental health week we watched a short assembly from Place To Be. We then read a few short stories to explore the theme if belonging.
Today we explored colour mixing and the Artist Paul Nash. We were thinking independently , problem solving and demonstrating creativity.
Today in our random groups of three, working on vertical non-permanent surfaces, we were solving our rich tasks. Lots of collaboration and pupil discourse. We also evaluated how well we worked together in terms of listening, sharing ideas, turn-taking, working together and being kind.
Today we had our first Rights Respecting Champion meeting of the year. We talked about new ways of sharing the rights with others in our school, competitions we will organise in the school and making sure we have all our rights on every display. Today we continued on with our digital profiling journey. We talked about our achievements a little more and the skills we have been learning. We are excited to document our learning this term and include pictures of our best work.
This week we have been continuing on with our project on British birds. Yesterday we went on a lovely winter nature walk with our tally mark checklist. Today we all worked together to solve our maths problem today. We were focussing on the mathematical language and the word ' sum'. We also talked about Math Talk Moves and using Reasoning in our groups.
On Tuesday we had our regular session with Mr Reid. We were very excited to make our own fires and learn all about fire safety. Everyone was engaged in their learning, risk assessing and was connecting with nature. We had a great afternoon and even roasted a few marshmallows!
This week we started off our pupil digital profiles. We luckily had Mrs Baty come to help us get started with this and we really enjoyed setting up our pages on the platform. This will be a regular task that we do to keep our profiles updated and self assess our learning each week.
Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting our Burns supper. We were delighted to welcome in our parents/carers and other members of our families.The hall was filled with enthusiasm as everyone read their slide clearly and performed their Burns poem.
